Ceresco Days 2018 theme is "TALES OF THE TORNADO"
Friends and Neighbors,
The theme for 2018's Ceresco Days has been decided and it will be "Tales of the Tornado". Since it will be the 10th anniversary of the tornado we would like to do a presentation about how the tornado affected the town and its residents. My vision would include a scrapbook, power point presentation and/or a video presentation. I am starting now because I think to make it right, it will take me that long. I am asking for your help with the project. If you have stories (tales) to share, pictures, newspaper clippings etc. that would be a huge help. I know that there are stories of triumph, sadness and generosity that we all can share about that time.
For example here is something from our family:
The tornado happened the day before my son's 8th birthday. We had hired a bouncy water slide for the party to come 2 days after we were hit. I got the call asking if we still wanted to rent it since we had no power. We decided yes, we wanted his 8th birthday to be about celebrating turning 8 and not the tragedy of the tornado. So we spent the next day and half raking and cleaning the yard as well as we could so that we would not pop the slide. We unplugged the freezer from the generator and hooked up the bouncy slide. We grilled hot dogs, had watermelon and chips and the local grocery store donated ice cream and popsicles, since they were melting anyway. The neighbor donated a birthday cake, she worked for Russ' cake dept., what a bonus for us! And we partied like there was never a tornado. The kids who were able to come had a blast and their parents were glad for the distraction. The best part were the stares and looks of shock from the people driving by and doing double takes! Some even stopped and their children joined the party so the parents could continue the hard work of clean up.
